Steve Schulkens

PRESIDENT

Steve Schulkens, president of Schulkens Communications is a dynamic, public relations professional, who has devoted his entire life to all facets of the communications industry.

​

Schulkens served 13 years at the Audubon Nature Institute where he was a key player in the dramatic turnaround of Audubon Zoo and a dominant force in the development, fundraising, marketing, opening and expansion of the world-renowned Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, which opened in 1990 to a record 2.3 million visitors.

​

Prior to establishing his own company, Schulkens served as a senior account executive for The Ehrhardt Group, overseeing the overall direction, management, and planning for the marketing of The World War II Museum, recognized as America's leading military museum.

​

Schulkens has received numerous professional awards including a Silver Anvil award from the Public Relations Society of America for his public relations and marketing efforts for the Zoo and Aquarium. Other awards include Addy awards from the Advertising Club of New Orleans for best television spot for the Zoo and Aquarium, best external publication for the Audubon Nature Institute and best Consumer Ad for the Audubon Zoo. Schulkens has addressed scores of civic, community and professional organizations as keynote speaker including the Louisiana Broadcasters Association, the national American Marketing Association as well as many local and regional Kiwanis Clubs, Rotary Clubs and other civic organizations.

Schulkens graduated from Jesuit High School in 1978 and Loyola University New Orleans in 1982, where he majored in Communications and Political Science.

Clark Castle

VICE PRESIDENT

Clark Castle began his career in communications more than 15 years ago in Dallas where he started out working on Fortune 500 clients including PepsiCo, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Subaru and FritoLay.

​

In 2007, Castle returned to Louisiana and moved to New Orleans. Since his return to New Orleans, Clark has worked for various agencies including Peter Mayer Advertising and Firmidable.


In 2017, Castle joined Schulkens Communications as a freelancer and was quickly promoted to Vice President in 2019. Clark has a passion for writing and developing communications strategies for any size client. Currently, he is the lead on the SOWELA, Crescent Classic and The Good Shepherd School accounts and also provides major support on the University of Holy Cross, International High School of New Orleans and New Orleans and Company accounts.

​

In his spare time, Castle is an avid tennis player and captain and has led his tennis teams to 15 state championship titles. Castle and his partner, Miguel, are the proud parents of their two four-legged children: Santiago, a border collie mix, and Gambit, a miniature Australian Shepherd.
